The history of the Luegeten

The Luegeten has always been a lookout point, even before it was first mentioned in a document in the twelfth century.

Located on the bridle path to Einsiedeln, and the Jakobsweg route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, this Biedermeier-style house that was built in 1864 soon welcomed its first guests.

Later the Luegeten even became an alpine health resort.

From 1911 on, the Luegeten flourished for 70 years under the Sturzenegger-Ronner host family. Up until the beginning of the 1980s, it was the venue for more than 5,000 wedding couples to celebrate the most beautiful day of their lives.

Since its reopening in 2002, wedding couples and other guests can once again enjoy the Luegeten's unique charm. The venerable structure shines in new splendour — coupled with modern architecture.
